Walking through the doors of Xi’an Famous Foods in Midtown Manhattan after a long day of traveling on an empty stomach was a sigh of relief for this New York newbie.  I was hungry for some delicious food to warm my body and soul on this very cool Easter Sunday, and got just that and more.

I picked up my order of a Spicy Cumin Lamb Burger and Stewed Pork Noodles and made my way toward the seating area, not really knowing what to expect. After finding a spot to sit, taking in my surroundings (one hot guy to my right, gents gossiping about a recent breakup to my left, and hip hop playing in the background), I took a bite of my noodles then my burger, slouched, and thanked God for leading me to this place.

The restaurant’s owner, Jason Wang, a 26 year-old Chinese born chef with a business background, out does himself with choice quality meats and impressive thick, homemade noodles all seasoned with lots of cumin (one of my favorite spices). The intense flavor of cumin in both dishes was something I’ve never experienced outside of my own cooking, and gave me a sense of comfort, all for under $20.

If you’re in the area and are looking for a quick bit to eat worth more than the prices charged, I really recommend checking this place out!

Italiano per la cena

Was I dreaming or did I really eat pasta that melted in my mouth last night?

Angelini Osteria is the place, and making delectable Italian masterpieces is their game.  This quaint restaurant located off of Beverly Blvd. in LA spoiled my taste buds with handmade pasta that actually melted in my mouth, no exaggeration!

Opened by highly regarded Chef Gino Angelini, this Osteria is very popular with locals, so, reservations are suggested.

I recommend the spinach pasta with beef and veal stuffed lasagna, and their spaghetti with black truffles (after eating their shrimp salad, of course). Delightful

The Sky Room is one of the most breathtaking restaurants in Long Beach. It’s located at the very top of the historic Breakers Hotel, built in the mid 1920s, a building which exudes an “Old Hollywood” charm through its Art Deco architecture.
The quality and presentation of the food was proof that The Sky Room not only talks the talk, but it also walks the walk. Everything ordered was delicious. I recommend trying the blue lump crab cakes. They made my eyes roll to the back of my head.

Guisados is a family-owned Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles that makes the most delicious tacos I’ve ever had.  From their handmade tortillas to their delicious aguas frescas, their menu is packed with gourmet food.

If it’s your first time visiting, I recommend ordering the sampler plate.
